Car seat

What car seat are we all using? I need to buy a new one but I am so confused about which one to go for! I would ideally like something that will last as long as possible, maybe upto 36kg and a 360 swivel would be ideal but have no idea what to go for!

I have a puggle 360 lasts until there 12 years old xx

I would recommend joining car seat safety UK group on facebook where you can put your child's height and weight etc and they can recommend good brands. I personally have an axkid movekid which is exclusively rear facing and will last until my daughter is 36kg/125cm, and I can't fault it. From my understanding 360 seats are only good for lower centile children and as they are quite bulky base as the child gets older it's harder to swivel them. Recommended brands which do the extensive crash testing not just the legal minimum include britax, axkid, joie, avinaut x

Depends on what you’re wanting from the car seat seat. Are you wanting to ERF? Recommended that rear facing until 4 where possible as it’s safest. Consider what percentile your baby is on, most car seats and I think all swivel seats are 18kg maximum meaning if your baby is on the higher percentiles then your baby will outgrown the weight restriction before 4. You will then need to use an adult seatbelt which isn’t recommended or invest in a 23/25kg weight restriction seat. Don’t be fooled by car seats that state 36kg, this will be 18kg for the harness and then up to 36kg using an adult seatbelt ie Joie stages / Joie every stage etc. Stick to well know brands ie Maxi cosi / Britax / be safe / AXKID / Joie If you are invested in ERF look at the results of ADAC testing or the Swedish plus test to see how the seat you’re looking at performs. If budget is on the lower end then look at the Joie seats, higher standard seats with additional testing for the price We have minikid 4s ☺️

@Anna there are plenty of seats that genuinely go to a 36kg limit - it’s just a case of finding them 😊 The swivel seat with the highest weight limit is the BeSafe Beyond which has a 22 or 23kg limit (can’t remember but it’s one of the two!) The seat and it’s base come to £618 though so it’s a pricey option. OP, the best seat will depend on your child’s weight and height and also which car(s) the seat is to go in. Whereabouts in the UK are you? The best thing is to meet your local independent retailer and try out some different seats in your car 😊

@Sophie that is interesting. Could you let me know what seats you’re aware of that harness past 25kg so I could have a look into them. The only I was aware of was the couple of Britax seats max safe and Safeway and the voyager.

There aren't any swivel seats that go up to 36kg, but if you do end up getting a non isofox seat they have much lower sides so it's easier to get your little one in anyway. My baby has started climbing in to hers already, which makes life easier 😂 I have an axkid minikid 2, which I love. It goes up to 25kg but should last my 75th centile girl until she's almost 7, especially because you can do extra leg room positions too. If you defo want a swivel seat I'd look at britax swingfix m plus. It goes up to 105cm and 20kg, but is a reasonable price and tbh depending on your baby's centiles might last them as long as you need it to before.
