Toddler having own seat on flight

Does anyone have experience of this? I am trying to book with easyjet and want my little girl to have her own seat this time. It doesn't give me the option so do I just book for 2 adults and then call them to book her a seat? Do I need to take a car seat or can she just sit on my lap for landing/take off and then go into her own seat? Thanks Their website isn't clear

As she’s under 2 she cannot have her own seat. She’d need to sit on your lap. However what we’ve done (with Ryanair) is just book and pay for another seat. When putting in the details of passenger it says to put the first name as EXTRA and surname as COMFORT SEAT. so he’ll have to sit on our lap for take off and landing but can then sit in the extra seat for the rest of the flight.

Thanks, so you didn't pay for a child to sit on your lap. You've technically just booked 3 adult seats? It's asks for an age so you just put over 2 even though they aren't?

You can take a car seat in the hold if you need it the other side but no seats on the plane. She will sit on your lap into the seatbelt signs turn off

You’ll still need to put in her passport details and info etc, but she’ll be linked to your seat if that makes sense? They need to be aware she’s going to be on the flight she just can’t have a seat. Then for the extra seat I put in my passport details and dob a second time.

You can take car seats on the plane if they fit in the plane seats.

You can call and book a seat, we did this for my daughter a few weeks ago, obvs need to sit on lap for take off and landing but it was well worth the extra money x

Hi, she can have her own seat. We went to Spain via easy jet last month, my daughter was 20 months. She had her own seat without a car seat. You can provide a car seat if you like, we booked for 2 adults then rang them directly for help booking her own seat. They advised we book it like a regular adult booking and name the passenger EXTRACARSEAT and then rang easyJet back for them to make sure we were all allocated next to eachother with no extra charge. They told us on the phone they'd provide a car seat but they don't, but our daughter was fine without it and airlines are fine with it so long as the child is old enough to sit up unsupported. Hope this helps ☺️

Thanks all. I ended up just booking for us two adults then spoke with cust service who have added her on in her own seat.

@Charlotte so confusing as the lady we spoke with told me we would need to take our own car seat? I don't see why she needs one if she can sit on my lap for landing and take off?

Very weird. The man we spoke to said we request a car seat off the airline at check-in. We got there and requested one and they were sooo confused because they've never given car seats. 🥲😂 He also said we didn't NEED one but it's up to us if we want the option to have one, nobody on the flight said she needed one so I'm 100% sure you'll be absolutely fine not taking one, there were loads of toddlers my daughter's age on the flight in their own seats with no car seats x

@Charlotte yeah honestly I've never seen a car seat on a flight! I'm just worried now I will turn up without one and they won't let us on but I've got a few weeks to figure it out!

Oh gosh no they absolutely will let you on!! I was worried about that too after check in and they didn't have one to give us, but they couldn't give a f*** 😂 as long as your child can sit up unsupported. I found with take off and landing we just put our arm in front of our daughter so she didn't fly forward, she loved it though, haha! Hope it's a smooth journey for you 🫶🏽

With Easyjet, I book an adult and a child seat. Then ring customer service or use the WhatsApp chat and get them to change it to an infant. But you ovbiously then get the extra seat. I've done this a few times.

@Eily I assume they didn't insist you used a car seat?
