Short femur length

We were always told my little girl had short femurs, she was on the smaller side in general (born on 8th centile) and also breech but every scan we had for her they said ‘oh her legs are quite short’ and I would always say, ‘not sure if you noticed my own when I walked in but I’m not a giant myself’ 😂. All the women in my family are under 5’4 so it never felt like a concern for me, my little girl is totally fine and ‘normal sized’/not had any growth delays. Was just a smaller baby with short legs haha. It’s so easy to worry but if the sonographers aren’t concerned then try not to be too, babies are all shapes and sizes ❤️

My daughter always had short femur and was told she is in the 2nd centile. I am not so tall myself. Her belly was normal and her head was on the higjer centile. I was so worried aswell but they she could just be a small petite baby. She is 1 now and all the checks are normal and she is just growing on her own centile. She is just a smaller baby x

Weirdly enough my girl has short femurs and big tummy as well, I can’t blame this on genetics as I’m 5’8 😂 but I have also wondered why this is , can’t wait to see what her little legs look like when she comes aha xx

Yes I think I'm panicking unnecessarily!! I'm just picturing this little ball shaped baby 😂

Our baby is measuring short too with only his legs and arms (9th centile) and I've been worried about the same thing too. Me and my partner are both 5ft3 though and everyone in the family is really short too, so I'm hoping it's just that xx

I’ve literally just had this at my 36 week scan. Head and abdomen are normal but the legs haven’t grown. I just straight out asked my consultant and she said it wasn’t a sign of any dwarfism or syndrome. She said sometimes it might signify that the baby might be struggling a bit and so they concentrate on growing the head and heart. My consultant also said not to loose any sleep over it but I’m having another scan next week check things. X x

Weirdly I am the same exactly. I am 5'3 and husband 5'11 and baby measured normal everywhere at 6% femur 🤣 Consultant said it was all normal.

@Conchi ah that's reassuring! Her legs are growing at each scan, just slower compared to the rest of her body!

5'2 is 14th centile for height, 6th centile for women's height in the UK is about 5'1, if that helps put it in perspective. Doesn't sound like something to worry about to be 6th centile especially if medics are happy
