Nursery drop offs

Morning all Just starting to think ahead and wondering if anyone has a solution? ! My LO is due to start nursery at the end of Jan but both my partner and I have to be at work before the nursery opens. Is there such a thing as a childminder who will do the nursery drop offs but on a more flexible schedule, that changes week by week but can give advanced notice! I feel that may be asking a lot of someone!

Does nursery have breakfast club? This is the problem we had. Couldn’t get little one in to the nursery with breakfast club. Thankfully mil can do drop off as we both start before nursery opens

@Chernien unfortunately not.. I’m a teacher and he’s a doctor so they aren’t really flexible like that. I was hoping we could get someone to do the mornings where we are both at work.. some weeks my husband has day in the week off so he could then do. We’ve also looked in our area and the earliest nursery is 7.45am

@Jennifer yeah the breakfast club is 7.45 but we both have to be at work for 8 latest and work over half hour away. I can ask my dad to help out but he already does a lot for my nephew and also it would be some weeks 4 mornings!

You can hire someone just for that purpose nowadays but they aren't many available

@Salma thank you.. would you know where I can look for someone for this? I’ve joined my local Facebook childminding group but no one seems to reply to peoples posts 😂

Could you try and make friends with another local mum and see if they could drop them?

Maybe look on childcare.co.uk

@Latoya I second this as checks etc have been done for you on this site. You can also ask local nurseries if they know anyone who does the service, next door app, just ensure you do the necessary checks.

Thank you all! Super helpful! Xx

Otherwise if there is family or friends you trust who can do it for you, ofcourse offer to pay them too would be even better. Do also ask colleagues who have kids as they may have someone who does it for them.

@Salma yeah that’s a good idea and I’ll defo ask the nursery if they know too!

Our nursery opens at 8 but we can pay £5 to drop him off at 7.30 so worth asking if they have a similar option (not usually advertised!)

@Emily thank you! Annoyingly our nursery the early drop off (paid extra for) is 7.45 which doesn’t give us enough time to get to work .. 7.30 would be just about manageable! Xx
