First time mom need help !

Hi everyone! My LO is 2 months old now and suspected cmpa baby.. however no blood in stools when the paediatrician ran his test. But he has a lot of mucous, eczema and is very unsettled after feeds. The doc put us on lactose free which he’s not really doing well on and refusing feeds. He also suggested a Rice based formula similac Arize. Any idea if I should be switching to this? I’m currently in Oman and I have no access to Nutramigen or Similac Alimentum.

girlll i have a two month old with a suspected CMPA!! he has his 2 month appt tomorrow and we’re going to see about getting him tested.. we’ve gone through a few different formulas and the alimentum was the worst one for him! everyone recommended it but it just didn’t work out.. we just switched him literally a few hours ago to Similac Pro-Total Comfort! I can update you on it later, as of right now, he’s doing better than the alimentum immediately!

That’s amazing! Please keep me posted! I feel like I’m all by myself in this and the doctors are not taking it seriously

i had a dietician appointment recently and it was explained that there are two different types of cmpa and one type can’t be detected via traditional allergy testing. i’m in the uk so i can’t be a lot of help! but just be aware that things like not having blood in stool or even testing negative for it does not mean that he doesn’t actually have it! x

@NANDIKA girl same. his pediatrician told me that all formulas are basically the same and that no matter what, he’s gonna have reflux. which I believe to a certain extent? but I’ve witnessed some babies change completely after switching!

@Laura yup! I’ve read so many Reddit posts about how the hydrolyzed formulas have changed people’s lives! I hope I get some help in this part of the world or I might’ve to get them shipped and try it out for him. Hopefully he holds on to the Lactose free one till then! But good luck with the doc today - be assertive and ask for tests, they might dismiss it as colic and give u drops , but advocate for your baby

@NANDIKA girllllll, this new formula had him just spit up basically the whole bottle!!!! I spoke too soon🥲 I’m definitely going to push for answers because I hate seeing him feeling bad😣

@Laura exactly! It’s painful watching our little ones go through so much discomfort - that’s why I’m getting desperate as well. I’ve read so many forums where doctors simply don’t want to admit it could be an allergy until they see those conventional signs .

@NANDIKA There’s such a difference when he drinks soy formula!! It was making him constipated, so I switched but now I’m thinking maybe I should’ve stuck with it😅

But the thing is my baby’s weight gain is normal, nor does he have vomiting or diarrhea.. but he does have the rest of it. Reflux rash discomfort etc

@NANDIKA majority of babies do not have every symptom. my boy didn’t have blood or a rash. there’s also differentiating levels of how bad the allergy is! x

@NANDIKA I’m so sorry your little one is going through this! I’m also now suspecting CMPA for my baby but he doesn’t have most of the classic symptoms but is starting to have some redness after feeds. Would you please share how the eczema/rash looks for your baby that made your paediatrician suspect CMPA? x

@Diana his forehead and eyes lids have flaky dry skin… hard to catch on cam, with tiny red bumps all over his face and body .

@Nandika that’s very helpful, thanks! Mine has random redness but they go away in a few minutes - is that the case with your baby’s bumps or do they remain?

@Diana they go away and reappear as well.. I don’t know if it’s the time of the day.. but it’s worse during the mornings and gradually fades and comes back the next day
