Childcare funding really not that great

Anyone else staggered by the cost of nursery? Even with funding and only there 3 days a week it's £804 this month. I know it's more than September because one week is half term so no funding but still it's extortionate! No wonder the birth rate is falling! Dreading the 6 week summer holidays with no funding.

Does your nursery not spread the funding across the year?

Our LO is at nursery for 3 days a week and it’s £665. We’ve spread the hours throughout the year

Definitely ask them to spread it over the year. It reduced by £400 from my invoice this month x

804 for 3 days a week isn't too bad, I pay 1700 for full time, so more than double

Change to a childminder I use one and my little boy is there 3 days a week we use funding and the extra we do pay is £120 a month it’s just not worth working paying that

Yeah ours is similar cost wise for 3 days, it's so depressing!

@Reena no I don't think they do. Just means some months are more expensive than others. Hoping the 39 free hours still goes ahead from next Sept.

@Joana wow! That's as much as a mortgage!

@Angharad looking forward to 30 funded hours from Sept. Fingers crossed it still goes ahead by then!

I only send my 2 for 2 half days a week and it’s still extortionate especially for what they get 🙄 I work weekends so my mum does childcare those days but I honestly don’t know how people are affording to work 9-5 and still live after paying nursery fees. 😢
