Overwhelmed on choosing products

Hi all, anyone facing the same? Its becoming overwhelming to choose starting with pram, cot or bedside, baby carriers etc. finding it difficult to decide and focusing on just one thing because people share their experiences and its very different. Just dont wont to end up buying 2 sets of each for everything:/ arghhh

It is overwhelming! I’d suggest compiling your research etc. and seeing things and making decision from there. One thing to keep in mind is babies actually need very little to start with and you can always add things as you go along. I’d also suggest marketplace/charity shops (fara kids) and similar for secondhand items as this can ease the financial cost of trial and error. When my girl arrived we just had the basics - SnuzPod, pram, car seat and then when we got a cot around 6.5 months when we transitioned her to her own room. I got a second hand baby Bjorn mini which was great for a little newborn and once I knew she liked the carrier, got something better for longer term. Sling libraries are great for trying/hiring. The thing is every baby is different and so what works for one won’t work for all. There are some essentials you need but would really strip it back to start with. With next day delivery on most things you’ll always be able to add things.

You've got some great advice here. Babies only need somewhere to sleep (a next to me type cot or moses basket), a means to feed (bottles, steriliser and formula or breast), some clothes (vests and sleepsuits), nappies and wipes and blankets/sleeping bags to start off with. Maybe some muslin cloths for cleaning up. A car seat is a good shout if you'll be driving baby home from hospital and for that I'd recommend joining the Car Seat Safety UK group on Facebook. Great recommendations from experts and lots of reviews too. We're going for the Avionaut Pixel Pro from birth and will then move babe into an Avionaut Sky when they outgrow the first seat. You can always figure out the pram/buggy and everything else later. Most places offer next day delivery or are available at a late opening supermarket so it's unlikely you'll be stuck if something crops up.

I was feeling really overwhelmed, so last weekend we decided to pick one thing off the list and focus on that, did some research, went to see the ones we liked in person then hunted about for the best price. Now that I've ticked one thing off the list I feel much less overwhelmed. To try and spread the cost a bit, I'm also trying to add something in to the weekly shop every week like nappies, wipes, baby wash etc, You've got this!!

I always ask Chat GPT, I find it much more useful than googling for hours on end and getting overwhelmed. Obviously I’d do my research afterwards but it made it a lot easier from the get go x
