Uni open days

I can’t get childcare for a uni open day (it’s the uni I’m applying for as my main choice). Would I be able to take my baby? Or should I just not go? Also what types of things happen at open days, what can I expect in general?

Check with the uni what they're doing but when I was looking (a while ago 👵🏻) they were mostly just to walk around the campus, maybe hear a presentation or two from course coordinators and meet some current students. Not ideal for a baby but not too bad in my opinion if you have no other options. Do you definitely have childcare for the actual course time? It'd probably be a bit of a red flag to the course leaders to bring the baby along to the open day but if you have childcare sorted I'd say it's ok.

@Caroline yeah so he starts nursery next September when I’d be starting so after the first few weeks childcare would be sorted it’s just for up to then

Take your baby, it'll be fine. Maybe for talks if you think baby will be fussy, try sitting near doors for quick exit. For most part it'll be exploring uni and the facilities. There will be various talks about course you're interested in, uni life and support/facilities they have. You could wait till end of talks to go up to speaker to ask questions too

@Syeda thank you!
