Yes I had this in my first pregnancy and it had no effect on me or my baby aside from when my waters broke there was a ridiculous amount of fluid. My bump never measured big and my baby never measured small, but was born on 9th centile at 38w The sonographer actually cannot inform you about the condition or advise you as they are not doctors but you should have a consultant appointment booked and they will give you the info you need. You could also request a repeat scan to double check the measurements or see if it resolves
I had this in my first pregnancy. I also had a big baby (10lb 11oz) so I had very stretched uterus which struggled to contract down and stop bleeding after labour but other then that I don’t think there are any other risks to birth. They might just want you to be in hospital for your birth incase you have a similar issue. I’d never home birth after this happened to me last time
I had too much fluid at my 30 week scan and then it had increased more at 34 weeks but it has since gone down to the normal range and I’m 36 weeks now. I was referred to fetal medicine too but that’s when they said it had gone down, and baby is measuring fine. I’ll be 37 weeks on Thursday and have another scan on Friday. But all they said to me about it was that I’d be getting induced at 39 weeks due to a lot of fluid. Don’t sure if that’s will still be the same case. Try not to worry about it though, your baby will be here soon ♥️
Thank you all for your knowledge and experiences ❤️
I had this, I got sent for a gestational diabetes test and they did a TORCH blood test to check there was no infections. I’m currently 38 weeks and I have 14cm amniotic fluid, I’ve been advised to get an induction at 39 weeks. Usually it’s nothing, it can sometimes be your baby is further along than you think so you may actually be 37 weeks instead of 36 weeks xx
We had polyhydramnious picked up at 28 weeks. But it had normalised by 32 weeks. It’s quite common to get hugger readings if baby has just had a wee and not yet reswallowed any amniotic fluid or is squished up to one side of your uterus over the other If they’re not imminently going to induce you then they should still get you monitoring your blood sugars and you will likely need some screening for some infections Abdominal measurements are affected by lots of things like position of baby but also how good your stomach muscles are holding things together
