@Gabrielle so you switched formula or you EBF and just cut dairy? I use formula along with BF so I’d need to cut dairy from both
We never had a rash or diarrhea. And initially no blood in poo. We had constipation, reflux and refusal to feed/screaming through feeds. He struggled to put on weight and was dropping down the centile chart too. We trialled nutramigen formula which helped a bit so doctor made us try going back to normal milk. He was fine at first but then the refusal to feed came back and we actually got mucus with blood in his poo which he hadnt had before.
@Sophie did you trial Nutramigen based on doctor’s recommendation? Has your baby improved after going back on it? x
Yes. We actually went onto aptamil pepti after the milk challenge confirmed the allergy. His reflux was awful on nutramigen and pepti is a bit thicker. So far he's a bit less sick.
Sorry to hear that @Sophie I hope your little one continues to get better on the new formula!
@Diana yes I did both. We switched to a goat milk formula and that seemed to help but not for everyone. And then I cut out dairy from my diet too
We had a diagnosis at 4 months. Blood in the stool confirmed by a guaiac test but we saw it- bright red streaks. She was essentially asymptomatic and doing fine otherwise so it was a little surprising. I think she had some silent reflux sometimes she would cry during eating so I started feeding her upright. I exclusively breastfed so I cut out all milk products including butter. She’s now 8 months and we started reintroduction…
This was me… I cut out dairy for 3 months and not much changed so still trying to work out if it’s CMPA as we’re trialled different formulas the dietician recommended but not sure if it’s just something to do with his stomach or if it is some sort of allergy. Does your LO move around loads in the night?
We were never diagnosed because I don’t even think they can without like checking a diaper idk but we couldn’t. I just knew that everytime she had dairy she’d be very cranky the next day so we just cut it out. But she didn’t have any of those other symptoms
