Go to the GP. My son was the same and they put him on prescription milk. He is now painful gas free and poops without issues. He’s on Newtramigen 1. X

@Kellie yes that too my baby was out on the same formula, it could very much be that as well

I’m going through the exact same thing with my 5 week old. He was also on SMA. I am just in the process of swapping him to Kendamil comfort which is supposed to help with wind and constipation.

@Kai I’ve tried gas drops it’s not worked for over a week 😭🩷

Kendamil with Colief drops. I tried cow and gate, SMA and then onto Kendamil x

I switched my baby to cow&gate comfort . Worked wonders 🩷

I second Kendamil. I had to give up breastfeeding at 6 weeks due to a bad latch. Collic went away almost overnight, we settled into a routine & I was finally able to start going out & doing things & show off my baby.

Gerber probiotics instead of gas relief is a better choice imo, also use the frida windii to help relieve the gas build up. Unfortunately, it can be a process to find the right formula as they all vary for milk protein allergies, since it can range from mild to a higher sensitivity, which usually is the reason for those symptoms. Both my kids had milk protein allergies, but my youngest was more sensitive.

Get a formula with the LOWEST iron. I’m had to switch my first two kiddos because of the same issue. Similac makes one and it was my go to with them when this issue happened

@Kai Babies can actually become dependent on the q tip as well! Any ‘outside’ stimulus that helps baby to poop can cause their body to become reliant on it. There is a ‘device’ called Windy baby that helps with gas and/or constipation (BE PREPARED!!! Make sure baby is facing a wall that’s easily cleaned and have lots of towels ready! *Or, better yet, just start out in the tub!), but my kid’s pediatrician (who had kids almost exactly 6 months older than each of mine, so he got it from parent side AND professional side) said to use it EXTREMELY sparingly l, we’re talking LAST. RESORT. All it really is, is a hollow tube with a tapered end for insertion into baby’s rear end. It’s designed to just relax/open their sphincter to allow the gas/poop to come out (and it does work like a charm!). I think the MOST we used it was with our middle (prior to talking to the doc) and we’d used it maybe 3 times in a month and he said that was WAY too much! He said once every three months is (contd.)

still even boardering on too much. I absolutely LOVE the kids pediatrician (we’ve followed him to 3 different offices w/in Kaiser). He always gave it to us straight and he said that it’s surprisingly easy for baby’s body to become dependent on outside stimulation to aid them in pooping because their body is still brand new, it’s learning and if it’s learning that it doesn’t have to work as hard, it’s definitely going to pick that! What always worked for me was to bike baby’s legs as much and as often as baby will let you, coupled with/followed by a warm bath/shower. It always worked so well in fact, that 2 of my 3 kiddo’s have actually pooped on me in the shower! 😳😲😱🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 Thankfully we were already in the shower! 😆😂🤣 Good luck mama. Gas/constipation can definitely be a killer, that’s for damn sure!

I used gas drops and switched her to goat milk formula because it’s easier to digest. Now my baby has a bowel movement everyday and isn’t straining. It’s difficult watching your baby be in pain
