Is this right?

So I was sent for a presentation scan at the hospital when I was 37 weeks 2 days and they confirmed baby is in breech flexed position. I asked if I would be seeing someone after the scan and they said no and to wait for my midwife appointment at 38 weeks 6 days. My midwife wasn't impressed yesterday when I arrived with baby still in breech knowing the hospital hadn't referred me to a consultant. Should the hospital have referred me by now? Today I'm 39 weeks and still haven't seen a consultant. My due date is 8th October.

No that doesn’t sound right at all. When they find out you’re breech after 36 weeks you should be referred to a consultant pretty quickly to discuss options, ie vaginal breech delivery, ECV to turn baby or scheduled c section. I think you need to push for that convo urgently. If you’re going to have a planned c section it would likely be in the next week before due date. Good luck. Hope you can speak to someone today.

😮 they should absolutely have spoken to you by now! They usually want to do a section (if your choice) around 39 weeks to avoid you going into natural labour beforehand!!

Yeah you should’ve been offered an ECV and referred to a consultant to discuss c-section delivery! Usually your c-section is booked for 39 weeks and should be delivering your baby this week (if that’s what you decide you want)

Yes at 37+2 at all the hospitals I’ve worked in you should’ve been reviewed by a dr straight after the scan as you are term and the further along you get the more reduced your options are. If I were you I’d phone triage and ask them for some advice

Just been given a consultant appointment for Thursday afternoon. Guess it's better late than never 😩

@Serena how did it go?
