Should i be worried?

okay so my baby is 4 weeks old today and 3 times today he’s had spit up/vomit come out his nose very forcefully. but it’s not right after feeding and it’s super thin and clear like water. i have no idea why he’s doing that. he’s also been VERY mucusy the last week or so. should i be concerned? i’m scared to put him to bed because i don’t want him to choke on this liquid coming out of his nose

Sounds like reflux & you can roll a towel or blanket under the head of his bed (or however he sleeps) so it’s slightly elevated until you can get him to the doctor. My LO had the same thing & we now have some liquid famotidine.

Does he have any other symptoms? I know that must be scary but there are a lot of causes for this that can be totally normal! If you are worried though you can call his pediatrician

@Haley he’s been sleeping pretty much all day and his temp is 99.9 which is a little high

my son has been too since i changed his formula!! he turns super red and cries while spitting up clear liquid ☹️

@Grayson was that under the armpit?

@Haley yes

@Haley he usually runs super warm anyways but his temp is usually around 98.9 or 99.3

@Laura have you asked his pediatrician about it?

@Grayson he has his two month appt on wednesday and i plan to ask then! but at his last appt, i was told reflux is completely normal and there’s not much to help🙃

@Grayson ok I would try to do a rectal temp if you can. I’ve heard that can be more accurate and give you a better idea. It’s possible he is sick. I’m not sure what the normal range is for rectal temps but I know it’s higher. A bath might help bring the fever down. If he is still throwing up tomorrow with a fever you might want to take him to the pediatrician just to get checked out. Better safe than sorry. I’m sorry you are going through this!!

@Haley 101.2 is considered a fever rectally for a newborn:)

Holding them upright for like 15min after feedings help a lot. I am sorry you are going through this..

my son has reflux this used to happen to him a lot, now i hold him upright on my chest for 30 min after every feed (even at night 😩) and that does not happen anymore. he still spits up but not out of his nose or as much as he used to.

i’ve held my baby upright for 20+ min and he still spit up but i’m gonna try it again 🤞

update he has covid☹️☹️
