Constipation

Hi mamas I have an 11 month old who has been having constipation issues for awhile. They come and go. Anyone have and recommendations to help? If done with the pediatrician told me pear, prune, apple juice and even water. Even had to try miralax but doesn’t seem to help my little one.. 🥲 anyone going through this or know what may help.

Try miralax

11 month old (if weight appropriate to the age and development) can have up to 8oz of water. Start with increasing water intake by adding extra 1oz to the formula, this worked for us very well. Ever since my son started solids we had issues with constipation I’ve tried everything and I mean everything as soon as I added more water to his diet he hasn’t had issues going every other day with nice soft poop. Hydration is the key.

Miralax isn’t good to give to adults or children repeatedly. Extended use isn’t too good. Have you tried constipation ease? It’s by mommy’s bliss. It’s mainly concentrated prune extract. You can also do some suppositories and just stimulation. Ours struggles with it too and this seems to help !

@McKayla this is what works for my little! Within a few hours!

My 10mo has severe constipation. Taking him to a chiro tomorrow

@Kami I hope it goes well mama keep me updated if you feel it helps!

@Katie my little one doesn’t seem to want to drink the water sometimes I have to try giving it to her any recommendations?

@Angelica my son doesn’t drink much water also but I add 1 extra oz to the formula. So if I’m making 6oz of formula I’ll add 1oz of water to it. Also if your baby is teething freeze some water in the baby bottle nipple and give it to her. Also hipp company has variety of baby teas you can add just tiny bit to the water so it gives it flavor my son likes the fruity flavor. Also you can offer your baby straw bottle they like to play with it and at the same time drink a little. Also offer water every 30min ( I sometimes forget) babies need to get used to the taste of it. I hope that helps

Every baby is different but mines got better when I started to give him water with his foods. I suggest getting those bear squeeze bottles on Amazon helps teach them to use straws

The Frida windi pipe works great if they are constipated. But definitely not a long term thing. Not sure if it's a ongoing issue or just a recent thing.

@Angelica this may sound weird but my daughter didn’t either. She takes medicine well out of a syringe so that is the way I give her water. Also a frozen wash cloth thay you wet before your freeze it and allow her to suck on it. I’ve had to get creative as she was struggling for months with constipation. I found that pear puree worked better than prunes or any juice. Lastly warm baths. Hope this helps

Same! With my 10mo. Your thread was helpful for me too🤍
