How much to pay babysitters?

About to hire a sitter for our 12 month old. She won’t have to bathe or put him to bed. Probably feed him only one meal. How much should I pay per hour?

Omg! That feels like so much!

We pay $20/hr for 2 kids. We’re in Southern California right now moving to Savannah in a few weeks. I’ve talked to a few potential babysitters there and they seem to want $15-18/hr.

I paid my sitter $40 a day for 7 hours or $60 a day for 11 hours

At least $20 for maybe a teenager. I was getting $15 for babysitting 15 years ago when I was in high school.

Really depends on how old they are, what they’re certified in, and the going rate in your area. I would ask around to other people who hire sitters in your area for a rough estimate.

How many hours a day and how regularly are you planning on employing a care giver? No matter what someone choses to call themselves/their care giver if it’s a super regular gig and pretty much replaces day care then you are paying for a nanny and not a baby sitter. Which is going to cost more than that of a babysitter, which is date night, random afternoon, etc type care.

@Abi definitely not a nanny. I’m looking for someone to watch our son for a couple hours here and there for things like date night.

A babysitter is someone to sit there and watch your baby and a nanny is someone that is there for your baby during the day when they are awake. If you’re wanting a babysitter I’m assuming he will be in bed asleep?

Anyone who has my child’s life in their hands gets paid WELL, yall wanting to pay these people next to nothing when they have your kids life in their hands is crazy to me.

@Allexys same

To bad you aren’t in Minnesota
