Advice needed!

My 4 week old tonight had a bottle and I sat him up a bit more and honestly it felt like all the milk spurted out his mouth. He's never really done that before then at the next feed he was hungry and taking the bottle but seemed to scream after a few seconds of drinking. Has anyone had this before? Wind, reflux? I'm now dreading the next feed 😕

Do you burp him? My LO is going on 7 weeks and I found that she started burping multiple times after a feed. Also, we give her infacol with each feed to help with the wind and gas. Also, after burping them you have to keep them up straight. Whe. My LO was 4 weeks, I'd keep her up straight for 45min... now it's only 20min before putting her down. Also, how much are you feeding him? You might need to give him more frequent smaller quantities.

@Lindelani thank you! Yes I do try but he rarely gets up burps unfortunately but we try midway through a feed and after too. We've just increased to 120ml every 3hrs but hes not always finishing it every time

Wow, 120ml is a lot at 4 weeks. My LO was doing 60ml. Actually, she is going on 7 weeks and doing 90ml to 120ml per feed. 120ml is not often. Please research different burping techniques and try various ones until you find one that works for you. He has to learn to burp else he will continue to throw up. Infacol has helped us with burping... from 5 weeks my LO was burping on her own 80% of the time.

You just have to keep trying mama

We’re also using infacol and have started pace feeding and we’ve seen an improvement in how often our baby is sick. We also keep her upright during and after feeding.

@Lindelani the guides on the formula all say 3-4 oz is normal at 1 month old. He doesn't always have 120ml either just occasionally but sometimes 90ml is not enough. He does burp but more occasionally than every time so will persevere and maybe try infacol, thanks !

@Lucy will have to try infacol i think thanks! I find my LO falls asleep with too many breaks 😅

If infacol gives your baby reflux you can try dentinox as well

Every baby is different. Feed him based on his demands. Sounds like you are doing all the right things, and it's a matter of alignment of all your efforts to reduce his spit up sessions. 100% follow the formula feeding instruction, was not implying that you should deviate. My LO is bottle fed breast milk so there is flexibility in feeding quantity, only give her 30ml of formula daily. @Lucy we also do pace feeding.
