Getting a cervical check

I got my first cervical check for the first time and idk if I am just super tight and tense or my doctor was just aggressive for no reason but her whole fist was inside and was scraping around and it was like the most painful thing I’ve ever had and I am terrified to get checked again what should i do

Communicate with your doctor next time. Or you can request not to have one. I was really scared my first time but surprisingly it didn’t hurt, just felt uncomfortable. For everyone it’s different but it’s not required or necessary

I was so scared to get my cervix checked and mine didn’t hurt at all, definitely talk to your doctor don’t be shy it’s your body! it should just be uncomfortable and feel some pressure. I know everyone is different but don’t be afraid to tell your doctor to be more gentle

I refuse cervix checks all together they aren't necessary. They may wanna check you during labor, but if you get epidural, you won't feel it. I've only ever had 1, and that was during my 1st delivery they are super painful, so I opt out. I let my body do its thing unless it's becoming a medical issue or cause for concern I don't allow interventions

My cervical check wasn’t bad at my OB office but the one at the hospital was extremely painful!! I feel like they aren’t necessary unless you’re actively having contractions or some other real concern!!!

They checked my cervix 3 times 2 days ago. It hurts so bad. I think could be just the person doing it. I had my OB dr’s do it but it never felt anything like that. I was dilated 2cm and having contractions

@Marj yeah I think it might have been the doctor doing it cause I asked everybody I knew and they all said it was a little uncomfortable but not at all painful and it was really bad for me

@Allie I’m so sorry girl. I was definitely hurting the nurse can tell.

@Marj yeah and I even was screaming at my doctor to stop and that it really hurt and she just said oh sorry and went in farther and was twisting her wrist in some way idk but I am genuinely terrified for her to check me again would it be weird or rude to ask for someone else to check me cause I do want to see how dialed I am

You may have a high cervix. You can decline but of you are wanting them you and ball uour hanbd into a fist and place at the bottom of your back. This can help the provider reach whem your cervix is high. It hurt the firsit time for me and then then the midwife asked me to do this and it was less painful. Idk if this will help, but its worth a try if you are wanting your cervix checked. But like others said you can decline them.

OMG LITERALLY MY SAME EXPERIENCE! Like that shit HURT HURT! It shouldn’t hurt but yeah it did 😳

I had my first one yesterday at 38+3 weeks. Was a lot more uncomfortable than I was expecting! They gotta get their whole hand in there to reach the cervix and get a good feel for how soft and open it is. It does suck but it’s normal to be very uncomfortable. I think I’m just lucky my OB has very petite hands!
