I think it’s a similar sensation to biting your tongue/side of your mouth but will be so much more comfortable afterwards

It hurts for a few minutes, like a sharp 'snip', majority if babies do cry when it happens, it's not nice to watch for some people but bring a bottle or breastfeed straight afterwards for their comfort, that's what we were advised when we got our first borns tongue tie cut. It's short and sweet. There's some aching for the next week afterwards and they may change their feeding habits while they adjust to the movement and the feeling, but it's a small amount of pain for a larger gain.

We had ours done at the pediatric dentist and they used lidocaine beforehand so it didn’t hurt him. He was in quite a bit of pain after it wore off that evening so we gave him tylenol

Usually the babies are numbed prior to this and you can request numbing to prevent any pain. However, babies do feel pain but not really how we do. Even painful, he's not going to remember the pain like we do as conscious people, so a bit after it's done your sons gonna act like a normal baby for the most part. Just remember this is best for his health when going through that xx
