Is anyone else’s baby always constipated?

My daughter seems to always be constipated. I have talked to her pediatrician, but nothing seems to be working. I offer daily prunes and pears, miralax in her bottles and I’ve tried to cut down on dairy. Does anyone else have a baby who is struggling with this? Any tips?

My baby boy struggles with constipation and hard bowel movements! The quarter cap of miralax every day helps and if he gets too backed up, I just do a half cap in warm milk! Also, peas (in the baby food form) always get his stool moving!

I appreciate the tips. I’ll give them a try! Thank you!

I have the same issue! She poops every 2-3 days. I give her prune juice and keep a normal diet. Her poop tends to be playdough consistency. My pediatrician said she isn't too worried. She said to only worry of the poop comes out in hard pellets, if she's bloating or if there is red or white in it. It seems to be common for a lot of babies

We struggled with the same issue for months, what worked for us is increasing fluids mostly I started adding an extra ounce of water to the formula because my son doesn’t like to drink water. At this age they can have 4-8 oz of water (if your baby is appropriate weight) worked like magic. Hasn’t had any issues with constipation for over a month. He goes every other day but is consistent and very soft. Also little tip if your baby is dehydrated even slightly prunes, miralax and other laxatives won’t work because all of this needs fluid for the bowel to because bulky. Hydration is the key.

@Katie i’m gonna try this!! my baby boy seems to struggle pooping

@Hanna also be careful with bay cereal, to me it’s like a cement, dilute it add fruit pure or milk so it’s runny.

@Katie This is super helpful. I’ll definitely try adding more water to her bottles!

@Katie thanks for this!

She drinking enough water throughout the day?

Every baby is different but the water helped us as well. I would give it to him when he ate his meals. I bought the squeeze bear bottles on Amazon. It helps encourage and teach babies to use straws. My kids like water so it’s a different scenario than the katie above mentioned. But I agree the hydration helped us
