How often are they going? I’ve found my son has settled a lot better than some of the others there and the staff have said it’s because he goes 4 days a week, they said the ones who only go 1/2 days or for half days take longer to settle. he’s been going 4 weeks now and is now having longer naps and I sneak in and see him playing and having cuddles, he still has a cry when I leave but my older son used to do this even when I left him with my mum. I wonder if it’s the right setting as well it took me months of numerous visits to choose a nursery we went for a smaller one in the end

Hes been having settling in sessions every other day for the last week and its not gotten any better 😢

Yes exactly, i am going to postpone his place for 6 months which i know will still be hard but at least i can mentally prepare for it!!

Do you not need him or her to go to nursery? If not don’t bother if it’s causing you more worry. Every other day sounds confusing especially if it’s only a couple of hours, so I’m not surprised it’s not working they won’t be getting to know the routine/ staff etc. maybe just wait till you need them To go, we did 2 settling in days 1 morning one afternoon then he started the day after for 4 full days. I don’t have any other childcare so I think that mentally helped me and I do think they probably pick up on our anxiety x

Mine really hated the settling in sessions and I often had to pick her up after only an hour as she wouldn't settle. But as soon as she started going 4 days a week she was absolutely fine. She happily waves bye to me now at drop off which seemed impossible at the start. I think it's just getting over that separation anxiety from being with you all the time and getting used to new people xx
