Prep Machine and Reflux

My baby is currently 10 weeks old! For the past 5 weeks we have struggled with hours and hours of inconsolable crying. It has gradually got worse and he started throwing up significant amounts of feed, having a lot of wind and screaming like he’s in pain for hours. We took him to the hospital as my Husband and I were struggling to cope and we were worried he was in agony! Since then doctors have prescribed infant gaviscon and omeprazole. He does seem to be settling however he settles more quickly after a feed when I don’t use the prep machine? He seems to be much more comfortable and less refluxy when I make up a feed with the kettle. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Do I bin the machine now 😂?

Yeah, we used it fine with my first baby, whereas this time we had the same symptoms, just wasn’t happy very windy and screaming so stopped using it, just use 1/2oz boiling water from kettle and then the rest with cool boiled water (basically mimicking the prep machine) and he’s been fine!

@Amy definitely going to try and few days without using it and pray it makes a difference! Desperate for a happy baby!

Our neighbours had a baby similar time to my first and she had terrible reflux from their prep machine, within a few days of stopping it she was like a new baby! Could definitely be worth a try x

Woww!! — this has been an eye opener for me and making me think my prep machine might be my baby’s trapped wind problem!

I’m on the Kendamums Facebook page and a lot of mums say this! So it could be a very strong possibility. I’d definitely stop using your prep machine for a few days and see what happens.

Stopped using it complete and now getting rid of our machine. Using the Nuby rapid cool and it’s amazing. I also took my baby to the chiropractor and it honestly felt like I came home with a different baby - he was locked up in 3 different areas of his body, which I hear can be quite common after birth especially C-section babies

@Amy has this made a difference long term?

Yeah definitely. I basically wanted to try everything as natural as possibly before running to the GP. I also give him baby Infantis powder daily mixed in his milk to help with his gut as he was on a course of antibiotics after birth.

I’m going to look in to that! Still have a very unsettled baby! X
