Blood clot injections

Is anyone else not on blood clot injections after birth? My sister in law said everyone should be on them after birth but I’ve not been offered them and midwife hasn’t mentioned at any point. I’m 6 days post partum. Thanks!

I only had them because I had a major surgery after birth. I finished mine today.

I am on them but had a c section and didn't have them for first child who was a vaginal birth

I had them after my first baby due to forcep delivery and blood loss. But wasn't given them after my second - both my midwife and consultant confirmed I didn't them this time.

Ik that they r 100% needed if u have a c section but for vaginal birth it depends on factors that make u high risk for blood clots or hemorrhaging. If you or an immediate family member have a history of blood clots or hemorrhaging then you will be give them. But if you don't have any risk factors then they won't give you them as you have no need for them. Count urself lucky as they are such a pain I hated them after my c section

If you have a C-section it’s automatically needed but if vaginal, if you didn’t have a bigger loss of blood or other complications then no. I had them with my first from having preeclampsia and a PPH but don’t need them this time as my bloods came back fine!

I took about 4 then stopped as kept forgetting 🤦🏼‍♀️ just need to keep active xx

i had a vaginal delivery with my first, didn't need any blood clot injections when discharged same day. 48 hours later we were back in hospital as my son had jaundice and needed to be under the lights. when we were discharged another 48 hours later, i was given a week (or two, i genuinely can't remember) worth of injections and was told that as i had been laying in a hospital bed i was at risk of a blood clot.

I have them but only because I had a c section

I was only given them because this was my 3rd pregnancy

This is my second C section and I haven’t been given them for either of my sections. Ithe midwife said I was low risk, due to only losing a small amount of blood and my BMI being below the threshold. Maybe each trust has their own criteria. I’ve just been trying to stay as active as possible and kept the compression socks on for 3 days like advised to.

I had a c-section and I didn't have them, it was never even mentioned.
