Placenta

Hi, this may seem a silly question. I’m currently 15+5 with my first child. On my 12 week scan nothing was mentioned if my placenta was anterior etc. Just wondering when people found this out? I did ask the midwife at QUAD test yesterday but she said it won’t get done till 20 weeks. Just confused as sister in law found out at 12 weeks with both her pregnancies.

I asked at my 12 week and they told me.

They don’t always tell you. You sometimes have to ask. I asked with mine at a private scan at 16 weeks because they never told me at my 12 week scan but then they told my at my 20 week scan. They also sometimes put it in your pregnancy notes so have a look in there☺️x

Thank you! I do have a private scan on 11th so will ask then. I did check notes but it wasn’t in there. I just wondered to be honest. Baby was moving around a lot on 12 weeks scan so did struggle to get clear look at first x

Both my other babies I found out at my 20 week scan x

even it is anterior now, your placenta will move as the baby grows and the exact position will change with my first I started anterior, at 7-8 months it was on the top

They didn’t tell me at my early or 12 week scan I asked today at my gender scan and I have an anterior placenta this time round. Always worth an ask x

She might see an obgyn instead of a midwife. Both are highly skilled. But midwives do less unnecessary testing. I didn't find out at all and was perfectly fine with it.
