The piece of skin you're looking at is a frenulum which is totally normal. Lip/tongue tie can only be diagnosed when there is a problem with the function of the mouth, this can only be done by a professional with the relevant training Might be worth seeing a breastfeeding peer supporter at a local drop in session for some advice. There may be something you can do position and attachment wise to help the pain
This is just a normal frenulum x
My son had lip tie had it cut at 3 months because I also had excruciating pain bfing. I had to pump until it was cut and it definitely made a difference. If you can, push for it to be cut. I know some have said it’s normal but it does look like a lip tie yes with the pain of bf that definitely sounds like lip tie. I can feel your pain mama 🩵 you got this!
@Anna This is very reassuring thank you! I am having to pump atm because it’s got too much. Her latch is definitely not right because nipple shields + being 4 months in shouldn’t be this painful right 😅 Once your son’s was cut was it a noticeable difference with nursing? Also did he cope ok after the procedure? Thank you! 🤍
@Sindi I saw something that said they only do it if it’s interfering with feeding, does your LO nurse? do you find it affects it?
My LO mouth looks the same! I don’t think they do anything for lip ties anyway in the UK
