Any moms that homeschool?

I'm really considering homeschooling my kindergartener & my 4th grader. I'm not sure where to start, though, or if it's something I'll regret down the line? I'm not so worried about socializing because I have them in a lot of extra curriculars but more about the process of it all. I'd appreciate any advice or just looking to hear about your experience if you've homeschooled before:)

Y’all please blow this tf up bc I have a 2.5 year old and feel inches away from being convinced I should homeschool her until middle or high school.

Definitely look up homeschool Facebook groups in your area! There's more people doing it than you think.

Look up the guidelines for your state and you can get the curriculum online. My sister lived in Indiana when she started homeschooling and they just moved back to Michigan and she’s still doing it. My nephew is high functioning autistic and he started getting bullied terribly so she decided to take them out of school and home school. They love it. They had actually been asking to go back to home schooling since the lock down ended

Definitely check the requirements for your state. My kids are homeschooled and I love it. My kids love it but we also travel around so it definitely fits our needs and schedules

Hi!!!! I have a 17yo and 2 6yos. They don’t even let kids talk in school. They can holler socialization all they want but they don’t let kids talk in school. They can’t talk in class, they can’t talk at lunch, in the halls. Just outside at recess.

@Cheyenne is this for homeschool? Or are you talking about in traditional school?

@Olivia ah I don't have fb but I've heard of this!

@Krystle do you follow an online curriculum? Or do you do the learning material? I think that's where I'm struggling.

@Jamie oh no I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad they love homeschool. I'm really considering, I think just the whole process seems intimidating but i just need to do some research.

@Anna J sorry in traditional school. Mine are homeschooled

I have my two homeschooled, 4th and 6th graders. They both take online courses that the county offers for free (free laptops, free printers, free supplies for every subject). Look on your county school district website. It should give you information about it. Your kindergartener can do it too. You can also provide your own curriculums and etc but do everything through the school district for your county. The kids will have to test throughout the year in person to ensure they are on track and learning. My biggest advice is to prepare to truly become a teacher, principal, counselor, and administrator all at once. Get yourself a big white board, binders, create a plan to manage y’all’s day, organization is key. You’ll have a lot on your plate at first but once you get in the groove you’ll be good.

I homeschool my oldest. He’s currently in kindergarten and he absolutely loves it. In our state we’re able to apply for an education scholarship that gives us a certain amount of money each quarter to use towards any school supplies, trips to museums, co ops, tutors, speech therapists and more. I have him doing the majority of his schoolwork through a variety of workbooks. He also is apart of a homeschool group that meets once a week, he has jiu jitsu class twice a week in the afternoon strictly for homeschoolers and I’m enrolling him in ski school for the winter. His schedule is pretty full throughout the week but also with homeschool it’s really flexible so if he wants a week of just staying home and playing he can do that too.

How does Homeschooling works? Isn’t effect child future , social skills, why moms prefer to do? I have heard alot now I am curious why homeschooling consider better than going school. Does it make child learn more than school learners? Why we should think of this also

@Preeti homeschooling is extremely beneficial. My son for example was bored in traditional schooling. He’s ahead of his class and has to sit and wait for everyone to catch up learning. Homeschooling provides time to truly test his strengths and gives him time to explore other interests like S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) programs that the school doesn’t offer without cutting into our family time. I found an aviation program and so many others things for kids through following homeschooling groups and now we’ll have time to do them. For me, it’s a way to show my children that they don’t have to follow the “traditional” societal standards of doing things. Take full advantage of what this world can offer and take control of your life. Anyone who’s ever done anything great in life was empowered by taking their own path. Those practices start now.
