Advice/Opinions

Just wanted some advice on taking my 6 month old to visit my husband’s gran in the hospital. Do you think this is okay? I’m unsure whether to take my baby as I don’t want her to catch anything from the hospital but we aren’t sure if his gran will make it and she would like to see her.

Have you checked if they allow babies? I know lots of wards don’t allow young children as they can also bring germs into hospital. Is FaceTime or similar an option? So sorry to hear about your husbands gran x

I think that would be a nice thing to do, being 6 months old you can hold her the whole time or have her in the pushchair so she isn’t very likely to be touching things and therefore catching anything. Double check the ward rules though, when my Grandma was very ill in hospital the ward didn’t allow children which made visiting difficult.

I took my 5 month old to the hospital after my pa had a surgery! We just didn’t let him or anything he used touch the floor and if it did we washed it good. He’s never been sick and is almost 10 months old now. I think it would be okay

We've been to the hospital a few times with our baby (now 6 months). We just make sure he isn't putting his mouth on anything, and we washed his hands when we left.

You may find baby’s arnt allowed on the ward. We had this when my husbands gran was unwell

I was in hospital when my baby was 6 weeks old and my consultant encouraged him to be brought in to see me. He didn’t catch anything. At 6 months old the immune system is a lot more developed
