constipation and gas

my baby is 4 weeks old, i originally did both formula and breast milk pretty much half and half but in the past few days ive done only formula and stopped breastfeeding unless its a little top up. She’s showing a lot of signs of constipation and sore tummy as she does little cries when she passes gas and i’m wondering if there’s anything i can do to help her. I’ve ordered infacol to try help her pass wind and given her a warm bath. Is this normal because of the loss of breast milk in her diet?

It's possible as breast milk is a natural laxative. Check with HV if they recommend anything or if her body just needs to adjust to the change. Good luck x

My little one was the same for the first few months. I tried switching formulas (although give each one a few weeks rather than switch and expect it to improve instantly). Infacol and gripe water helped sometimes. Also look up baby massage and baby yoga techniques which can help ease their pain and help wind them. There's also various probiotic drops you can get to add to their feeds but these can be quite pricey so try the other options first. X

My son had the same issues, upset tummy, constipation and gas. He was breastfed til about 2 weeks, then we switched to Kendamil and that’s when we started having issues. I tried to give it time but my poor fella was constantly trying to pass gas and would go 2-3 days without pooping. I finally switched to a more gentler formula and we haven’t had issues since. My MIL was visiting around that time so she would add maybe 1 oz of chamomile tea into his formula while he adjusted which helped his tummy since a warm bath didn’t help much. 😔 Hopefully you find a solution. ❤️

@Brianna what formula did you switch to x

We ended up switching to Kendamil Organic and now he doesn’t have anymore issues.

@Brianna she’s on cow and gate at the moment so if it continues i might try out the comfort version for constipation x
