@Katie what makes a school ‘outstanding’ ?
Check out the outcomes of the year 6 exams, if they are below the national average then avoid the school. They have to publish them on the website of the school
When ofsted visit a school, they speak to children, staff, observe lessons, deep dive specific subjects to check the curriculum is being delivered to a high standard, they look at safeguarding and teacher professional development. But in my opinion, schools can put on a show for ofsted … it isn’t a “normal” day to day so I would take it with a pinch of salt xx
I’ll be honest I’m a teacher and I’ve worked in “outstanding” schools which aren’t outstanding behind closed doors and have a toxic culture, and I’ve worked in “requires improvement” schools which have been amazing and gone above and beyond for all children. I would say to go and view a few and get a feel for the environment and if it aligns with you xxx
