Percentile

How/when do you find out which percentile your baby is in? I haven’t heard anything about this.

It should be in your folder, there’s paperwork added from your 12 week and 20 week scan. My midwife also brought it up in one of my appointments after reviewing the paperwork from my scans.

@Julie how do i access my folder?

@Steph I have a physical folder, it’s your maternity notes

It’ll be in your badger notes or handheld notes from about 26 weeks (once fundal height measurements or growth scans start for anyone who needs a growth scan)

@Clare its not in my badger notes

Some trusts won't give you this information. However, speak to your midwife and ask for all the measurements from your 20 week scan. I had to ask to look at the sonographer's screen after my scan to be able to see where my baby was plotting. You have every right to this information - don't let them withhold it! With some trusts, it's just a case of asking for it. It's absurd, since it's your data and it's important. But anyway. Midwife might not be able to give you an exact percentile, but should give you a fair idea of roughly where baby is plotting. I rang mine up because there was no info on my online notes about measurements or percentiles. Nobody was going to give me the measurements unless I asked. 🤦‍♀️xx

Quite often at this point people discussing centiles will be to do with bump growth too; this should start at your 28 week appointment and the midwife should give you an indication of how you’re growing x

@Claudia I will ask at my next appointment, i feel like everything has been a chore for my midwife throughout my pregnancy and she hasnt given me any information even when i ask. just cant wait till baby is here x

@Steph I feel you. It can be isolating. But do keep pushing for the info you want. That's really how UK healthcare is, you have to advocate for yourself as a patient. 🙂 I'm sure the midwife will get the measurements up for you. x

I didn't find out until my 28 week growth scan. The midwife did a tape measurement at 26 weeks, but it's not as accurate as the scan. They didn't plot this info from my 20 week scan on my badger notes, but started from the 26 week tape measurement. With badger notes, your midwife actually needs to click a button to publish this information. They often forget this step, but it shouldn't take them long to fix it you ask.

@Gemma does everyone get a 28 week scan? x

@Steph I'm not sure actually! I thought they did but I looked it up just now and it looks like I might have been booked in because of my BMI. You should definitely have had your tape measurement from the midwife though and they should be able to give you the percentile based on this.

@Gemma ive got an appointment next week so hopefully she will measure me then, i will ask her to. i was expecting to be measured at my 25 week appt x

Different trusts start measurements at different times - I didn’t get one at my 25/26 week check in but was explained that here they start from 28 weeks for bump. Measured big but not in for additional scans (yet) x

@Steph each trust is different. I had my bump measured at my 28wk midwife apt. Plotted at 50th centile. I had my first growth scan (my first baby was small) this week and baby is plotting as 10th centile. I wouldn’t get too hung up on the growth charts as they can be wildly inaccurate.

@Steph have you got badger notes? Go on maternity notes and there’s a part called growth charts. Would only be based on bump measurement if you have not had a growth scan (which is normal)

@Charlotte there’s nothing on my badger notes x

I had to ask for my 20 week scan report to be emailed to me as it wasn’t published on badger notes, from that I could see what centile baby was on. I have a growth scan next week to check again but that’s due to having GD, not everyone has additional scans unfortunately 😔 xx

I only found out from my growth scan 😊
