Vitamin D drops

Baby is majority feeding on expressed breastmilk with maybe a bottle or two of formula per day. I am terrible at remembering to put Vit D drops on the bottle teat. I use the WellBaby ones but to be honest I forget majority of the time. It says 0-6months to put on the bottle teat / nipple. Can anyone recommend Vit D drops that I can put directly into her milk bottle? It would be a lot easier!

@Jenna (Jen) thank you! How do I get them for free?

You should be able to get from the Pharmacist. I'm not sure where you're based, but in Scotland, these were given out by Midwife and HVs. And should be free.

Your formula has vitamin d in it so you don't need to give vitamin drops if you don't want to. As long as they are getting around 500ml a day so about 3 bottles.

@Rebecca unfortunately she doesn’t have this much. Max 120ml formula most days. 240-300ml on occasion. I might just put these drops into her bottle until they’re done.

@Elizabeth I’m in Oxfordshire. Way easier if the midwife had just given them out. No mention of it except by my HV & no mention of it being free. I’ll get them anyway. Thank you.

You only get them free if you’re on low income.

*in England. Scotland might be different.

You can get them free from the HV in Berkshire, nothing to do with your income. Just pop over to a clinic

@Amyee not true in Reading

We put ours directly in the milk anyway, I was told the only reason it says to put it on the teat is because you don't know if they will finish the bottle. Especially since in the instructions it says for older children you can put it direct in their drink.

@Emmo that’s also my thinking as to why they say to put it on the teat. But trust me my girl gonna finish dat bottle 😂😂😂

@Jenna (Jen) that’s nice, I was told it’s only if you have a healthy start card and it says so on the nhs website I guess some areas are more generous than others 🙂

@Amyee this is where the NHS is I guess independent of decisions on each region

I started using the Wellbaby vit d drops too, but I was awful at remembering as well - and the amount you have to give them is so difficult to achieve! I EBF and as I take a breast feeding multivitamin with vit d in it, I've just sacked off the drops.

I’ve just put it in her bottle this morning and she’s polished it off. 0.5ml is a lot to drizzle over a teat. I’m going to do this going forward.

I just pop it on a teaspoon and over it goes. I don't always remember to give it to her though!
