Newborn bath routine

What is everyone’s bath routine? Do you wrap your LO in a warm wet towel while bathing? I didn’t do this last time and I noticed my LO shivered when we took him out of the bath and transferred him to the towel. Does an evening bath help make your LO sleepy?

My LO is 5 weeks old and she loves bathtime to be honest. We have a wet towel in the tub with her while she's in the bath. She always shivers when she is out so one of us will have a dry towel ready and waiting for her when she gets out and wrap her up. We find that when she has the bath at night and then a bottle shortly after it knocks her out.

I bath my baby every night around 8 … I think it helps ..if it doesn’t well I am already making a routine for when he gets a little bit older …

I do cover him with a wet towel while in the bath to help him stay warm. I haven't really started any routines with him.

I bathe our lil guy 2 times a week of he's smelly, once of he's not. I put a rag under him and a bigger hand rag over him, but wet with warm water. I normally give him a bath right before bed unless he pukes all over himself, and yes, it makes him sleep better imo. He shivers and his hands turn white until he's in his sleep sack and under a blanket but after a minute or two he's done

We use a large swaddle blanket wrapped around her and will pour warm water on her throughout the bath! She loves it and makes bath time so much easier! And heating pad on the changing table for after the bath. No tears!

Hope it’s okay if I add a question here! What temperature should the water be for a bath?

I believe 98-99 degrees

Thank you!!

@Liz I bought this! It turns green for safe, blue for too cold, and red for too hot! https://a.co/d/hyxN9T7

@BreeannaThat is perfect! Thank you

I do a warm coconut oil massage, and use a small towel on her in the bath. And I like to have a heating pad on low warming up where u will place her after I take her out to dry and I put her Jammie’s under the heating pad so that warms up too and the towel I’ll use to dry her on top of the heating pad warming up or I’ll throw it in the dryer and grab it right before I take her out.

- I hot box the bathroom… it’s like a sauna in there as that’s the only way he doesn’t shiver and cry. - Ensure that the bath is the correct temp. - Put a muslin over him and constantly put water over it. - Put 1 towel down/wrapped around him and 1 towel to dry. - Fresh nappy and massage.

I use a receiving blanket on my LO while in the bath & pour warm water over it throughout the bath time. I also put his dry off towel on top of the heat pad & blanket sleeper under it so he’s toasty once he’s out.
