Infected stitches...maybe

The back end of my stitches, pretty sure it's the last one are killing me, so stingy, it hurts to sit down now :( I'm worried they are infected 😞. Just needed to say that to people who might get it because this is NOT my idea of fun (for ref, 8 days pp from episiotomy and forceps delivery)

I grew up in the Caribbean and they swear by having dettol baths. I’ve been using a cap full in a Pyrex measuring jug 1-3 times a day either at the end of my shower or over the toilet (I’m not well enough to get in and out the bath yet). I kind of just sit let it soak for a few seconds, have a swish and then pat dry. Sounds ridiculous but I’m 8 days pp and went to theatre for a 2 hour stitch up for apparently “the worst” second degree internal tearing the surgical team had ever seen. It’s the very front ones that are stinging me and since I’ve been doing the soaks it’s much improved. Even stepped outside for a very short walk today!

You know your body if you feel something is wrong please contact ur community midwife or hospital, I had infected stitches from an episiotomy and it was pushed to the side and became septic I spent 4 days on iv antibiotics… try having a tea tree bath and using spritz for bitz to ease the pain/swelling x

I’ve found with my stitches there is what feels like one side still more painful & if I’ve been sat for ages it kills . I’m on my second round of antibiotics now to treat an infection. Id contact your GP / Midwife & mention to them x
