Breach

This is my 3rd baby, I had a scan yesterday 31+5 and was told baby is in the breach position. I didn’t think nothing of it until I went into my consultant. He said at my next scan and appointment at 36 weeks, if still breach I’ll need to choose what happens next. Took me by surprise as there’s still time. Has anyone had this and what happened?

My baby stayed breech and I had a planned c-section. Did they tell you what breech position baby is in? As that will determine if they offer to spin them x

You can have an EVC where they manually turn the baby, but I’d do your own research on this, it’s painful, has low success rates and can cause the baby distress Or you can have a planned c section, which is what I opted for, I had no regrets was a very calm experience You’ll find loads of info online and they’ll go through it all with you as well if at 36 weeks they’re still breach Mine is breach again this time as well xx

I've seen a lot of people recommend the Spinning Babies technique to try and get babies to move the right way by themselves. They have an Instagram page.

@Phoebe EVC is only offered depending on the position of the baby. Mine had his legs in a certain position so it was too dangerous. I had no choice but a c-section x

@Hannah what certain position was this, if you don’t mind explaining, please?

A family member of mine had her baby breech and she visited an osteopath who specialises in pregnant women. (None of this intense bone cracking) & what happened was the osteopath released all tense muscles, creating room for the baby & she moved into position naturally. Really not a fan when they move baby manually.

I wouldn't worry at this stage. Mine was breech up until last week (I'm 33 weeks, he's now head down). I know he could turn again so I'm just not thinking about until the 36 week scan. X

@Hannah (as if you were in my body) to my left side near rib is the head, bum on right side near rib and then legs down. That’s all I know xx

@Phoebe I said I’ve heard it’s painful and he said not at all just pressure. Didn’t believe him 😂 Trying to avoid c section as I’ve got two little ones at home. One who will be 10 months! So now I’m quite stressed xx

@Catherine I’ll have a look! Thank you xx

@Valentina Mcillmurray yeah I didn’t think it would be a problem yet. Got me worried now as I really didn’t want a c section! Obvs whatever is safest but will make my postpartum difficult. I’m hoping they will turn! Can you decline and wait till a later date than 36 weeks?

@Megan my baby girl was breech and restricted growth so was scheduled for csection at 38+3, but I went into an early labour and had her at 37+1 via unplanned csection which was still lovely, she was just on the smaller side as expected. It was at my 36 week scan that they booked my csection for 2 weeks later but I was told it needed to be booked for 38 weeks because she was restricted growth and wasn’t getting the right nutrients from me so you may be allowed to go longer? My boss actually had a csection booked for her breech baby at 40 weeks and the day of her section he flipped around and she went into labour 😂x

@Zoe ah bless you. This is my third but both were vaginal births so a c section is the unknown for me! Having a 3 year old and 10 month old to also look after is what scares me about the c section! My second was also small and I was induced at 37 weeks so I know what you mean, teeny bubbas 💕💕

@Megan I'm not sure to be honest, I'd ask at your next appointment. X

@Megan ah fingers crossed baby does a spin for you! I also want to avoid a csection for the recovery with a toddler, but at least you know you had successful vaginal deliveries previously so baby can definitely spin! I was told there was a chance I had an odd shaped uterus that might only hold breech babies 🥴😂. Of all things to get a complex about 🤣. Sending you all the spinning baby vibes ❤️❤️

@Zoe thank you, there’s been a lot of wriggling going on! I see my midwife Friday hopefully she can tell if babies moved because I can’t work it out 😂 xx

@Megan fingers crossed!! 🤞🏻. I had one evening where my boy was moving like crazy so I did some of the spinning babies positions and I swearrrr that is what made him do his big fliparoo!! Hopefully the midwife can make sense of which side is head and bum haha xx
