Measuring behind?

Just left my follow up appointment. gestational, I’m 34 weeks and 4 days. However, my doctor simply measured my stomach with the measuring tape and said I’m only showing as 32… Which is weird because LAST visit she said I was showing as 33. So what’s going on? How can they determine my gestation based on a measuring tape? Seems lazy and innacurate…

I would not trust the measuring tape. Only the ultrasound can show the measurement and even that is usually off

@Milena yeah i definitely do not trust it! I feel like our belly changes from beginning of day to end (depending on what we eat) so it just seems so inaccurate to me. I won’t think too much into it

It's incredibly outdated. I've even been told not to entirely trust ultrasounds let alone measuring like that

@Julia okay yeah! It FEELS outdated! I’ll stick with my original gestational age.

Fundal height is not exactly the best way. we still do it, but just as observation

Don’t worry about it, at 30 weeks I was measuring between 26 and 27cm so they referred me to an urgent growth scan and baby is in the 90th percentile 😅 just playing peekaboo

It depends on your body because I am pretty small at 32 weeks, but based on all the tests my baby is healthy and super active. Some show more than others.
