Measuring big

I just went for my 34 week midwife appointment and my midwife has said I’m measuring way over than what I’m supposed to she said I’m on the 97th percentile 😱 she’s taken my blood for another glucose test and booked me in for a growth scan which she said they will let me know when they book it . I know some babies measure big etc and it’s userally okay but I also no this can mean an early induction . My mum also said she had this when she was pregnant with me and had me at 35 weeks via c section and died on the table and was brought back to life to you can imagine my fear if it’s history repeating itself , anyone been through anything similar ?

I wouldn’t worry about it yet, I was referred for growth scans due to bigger bump in my first pregnancy and my baby was born 6lbs 1! Remember they are measuring you and your bump, not your baby, and fundal height is rarely representative of baby size tbh. Go for your scan and see how baby is growing and take it from there. More often than not everything comes back fine, baby is a healthy size and you’re just showing more than others. It’s not a diagnosis and I wouldn’t even be thinking about induction or c-section at this stage

@Becca thankyou I appreciate that ❤️❤️

I was referred for a growth scan as my bump was measuring 4 weeks ahead of where it should be at 24 weeks. Had the scan the following week and baby was measuring just fine, not big and exactly in line with what she had been. Even them laying in an odd position can affect the fundal height chart so I wouldn’t worry too much. I also had a growth scan at 34 weeks and they estimated that she weighed 6lb 11oz. She was born naturally at 36+5 weighing exactly 6lb 11oz so the scan was definitely wrong 😅

@Lauryn this makes me feel better about it lol thankyou did they induce u early because they thought the baby was big ? Xxx

I went for a growth scan with my first baby measuring 98th percentile, no intervention was mentioned, he was born at 39+4 weighing 9lb xx

@Phoebe thankyou it’s nice to no different scenarios

I was measuring 95th percentile all through pregnancy and my boy came out naturally on due date at 7lb 12 xx

They kept telling me my LO would be over 4kg she was 3.3kg and bang on 50th percentile when she was born vaginally at 40+3 weeks. The sonographer kept telling me that scans are very inaccurate the later in pregnancy you get.

I went for a scan at 35+2 weeks they said he was weighing 7lb 13oz so was a BIG baby my blood sugar kept dropping even with the insulin so they said it was because my placenta wasn’t working like it should. My blood pressure was through the roof and said pre-eclampsia was kicking in fast I had the scan on the Tuesday and went into have him by emergency c-section on the Thursday he came out at 7lb 3oz x

@Darcey no they knew baby wasn’t too big. They did offer to induce me at 39 weeks due to my having chronic fatigue syndrome but I went into labour naturally in the end at 36+5 ☺️

My bump has been 3-4 weeks BEHIND every appointment in the last trimester, they sent me to an urgent growth scan and baby is on the 90th percentile. At 30 weeks + 4 days he was weighing nearly 2kg already so not small at all.

I measured at 95th percentile with my boy on the scan and tape measure. The pregnancy was healthy (other than putting quite a strain on me), no diabetes etc Scans can be up to 15% wrong so you simply can’t put stock in them and in my country they won’t actually book a ceserean based on estimated size anyway. We attempted a vaginal birth when I went into natural labour at 39w but baby wasn’t in the best position, his head put pressure on my cervix and stopped it dilating the last cm so we did an emergency ceaerean. I’d been on the epidural, and the ceserean was a breeze so honestly it was fine. He was born 91st percentile
