Protein

Has anyone had a trace of protein in their urine at a midwife appointment? She wasn’t concerned and said it could be a number of things but should I be worried?

Really normal at this point in pregnancy. Normally happens due to the increased discharge contaminating the sample

@Ceri-Ann thank you she passed it off like it was normal as my blood pressure etc was fine but was just worried my urine should be sent off for further testing

No a trace of protein definitely doesn’t need further testing with a normal blood pressure.

I had it. I was told could be due to infection at the time - I had a chest infection when they did it. It was lower this time. I think there are lots of reasons if it’s just a trace and no other symptoms they don’t deem it a risk.

No I had this, but my blood pressure was normal and didn’t have any other symptoms so she wasn’t concerned and my next urine sample was fine x

@Mollie ah thanks that’s more reassuring

I was told the same yesterday and just got told to drink more.

i’ve had this multiple time, only small traces and BP has always been fine, so they never seem concerned (even tho i do have a family history of preeclampsia) but it’s normally all gone by my next appointment x

Yes, if Iv had it tested twice and traces same up and sent off and my blood pressure was fine. Mines come up in the morning when Iv not had enough to drink and it’s been absolutely fine. First time it happened I was really worried and both turned out to be nothing… just not drank enough before the appointment xx

I had a trace of protein in my urine once with my first they took the sample away for further testing but nothing came of it they think it was just contaminated.
