Applying for schools

Hey guys 👋🏽, scary times having to apply for schools for our little ones 🥲. We are moving out of area but waiting on all the legal stuff to go through for the house, just wondering if anyone knows can we apply for schools in the new area without having a “permanent” address there at the moment? Just worried if things keep being dragged out don’t want to miss the cut off point

I don't believe you can. I'm in a similar situation, I will hopefully be moving.

I'm in the same position, I did ask a school and they said that I can still apply and let them know as soon as we have moved. The deadline is January 15th so as long as you move by then it should be OK.

But the was just one school I asked so not sure on others.

I was by our local council, you can apply for any school but it's your responsibility to be able to get them there, and also depends on the school criteria

We’re in the same situation and it’s unlikely we will have moved by the deadline in Jan, I’ve been told to register her at the school local to where we live now and then go on a waiting lost for the new local school when I have proof of address. Seems a strange way to do it but I guess the school won’t consider you until you actually live in the catchment!
