Early scan and being curvy

Hi all. I have my first scan next week and I’ll be 7weeks + 4 roughly and I am a size 18. I know to go with a full bladder but just worried as I carry weight around my tummy they will struggle. Has anyone had one and been on the curvier side? Thanks x

I’m exactly the same I’m going tomorrow for a early scan I’m 7 plus two I have a feeling I’ll be bit more when they do measurements I’m wondering when I should take the water is it a hour before they haven’t actually told me lol mines at 9am tomorrow so can let you know how I get on x

@kelly heya where I am going it just says have a full bladder so id say just drink as much as you can from 8am tomorrow to ensure its full. And yes please let me know how it is :)

Not got a slim belly anyway I prob look 3 months lol already haha won’t be able to hide much longer I’m wearing baggy fleece in work haha but will feel ok when get tomorrow out the way as high risk and my 2nd pregnancy first time fallen in 6 years so been a shock my son is 9 haha x

I've asked this in a plus size pregnancy group, as I'd also like to do an early scan but was worried about my weight. But 3 mamas said they did it and didn't have problems seeing the baby. Also they said private scan were such a much better experience than the "given" scans

@Ilaria what’s the group I’d like to join gonna drink loads water in the morning haha

@kelly it's called plus size pregnancy, the icon is green background with daisies

At 7+4 would it not be a transvaginal scan where you need an empty bladder?

I haven't had an early scan before, but in my first pregnancy at the 12 week scan I was also a size 18 and had no issues finding or seeing baby, people actually remarked how clear our scan photos were!

A 7 week scan should be transvaginal so done with an empty bladder and in that case I don't think mum's size makes a difference as it's internal.

How is everyone having early scans are you paying? X

I’m high risk also diabetic so they booked me in for early one I did see a lot paying for peace of mind etc I was thinking internal but spoke with a few that managed to have on the belly from 6 depending on each others body’s I suppose and size of baby

I had a scan at 7 weeks in my last pregnancy, I'm a size 18. They didn't have any issues. Xx

@Lauren yes private. Costing me £90 x

As a girl on the thin side they struggled to see baby from the stomach so they ended up doing an internal ultrasound, 7 weeks is still really early and small so they may just opt for internal xx Edit - but I do have a tilted uterus so that definitely doesn't help xx
