HG - extra scans?

Morning! Has anyone in this group got/had HG and been booked in for extra growth scans? I’ve got low PAPP-A so I have extra scans from 32 weeks anyway, but I’ve already had two private scans due to worrying how the HG is affecting the baby and it seems like 12 weeks is ages to wait for my next scan with both conditions. Especially as I’m worried it might be a bit too late then to do anything!

I’ve also got low PAPP-A and was so worried when I found out cause I thought the worst and pray it doesn’t affect my baby but that’s why I’m taking aspirin to help with it. I’ve got my first extra scan 2 weeks after my 20 week so I’ve had no private ones but the wait has been dragging and making me feel slightly apprehensive. I’m sure everything will be just fine though 😊

I have been quite poorly this time round but no where near as extreme as the HG I had with my first. Was sick about 8-12 times a day throughout and never had any extra scans. He’s now a healthy and lively almost 3 years old. And I’m not exaggerating when I say I barely kept anything down the whole time. I hope all goes okay for you, try not to worry too much x

As far as I’m aware with HG they won’t give you extra scans unless there was an issue with bump measurement as this is how they normally do it without the low PAPP-A. I freaked out when I found out I had low PAPP-A and thought the worst but having the understanding it’s just a risk factor and not a diagnosis helped. With low PAPP-A it will mainly affect you in the third trimester, if at all so that’s why they start scans then. My scans will start at 28 weeks and be every 3 weeks. I’d maybe speak to your midwife or consultant and ask if there’s anyway for your scans to start earlier and just explain why you’d like this to happen. They can start them at any time in the third trimester so hopefully they’ll move them forward for you a bit 🤞🏼

@Zoe ahh fingers crossed the aspirin has been helping! Sadly I can’t have aspirin as I’m asthmatic so it’s just extra stress 😂

@Amy ahh glad your little boy is all well even though you were really struggling with the HG! Did you have to give birth early at all? Thank you - you too! X

@Samantha thank you! Yeah it definitely does sound scary at first but thankfully I’ve heard of lots of positive stories from mum’s with low PAPP-A too!

@Jess thank you. He was actually 9 days late 🤦🏻‍♀️
