Growth scan and reduced movements

Hi, just looking for a bit of reassurance! I had a second instance of reduced movement today, was monitored and everything seemed to be okay as I was allowed home, but I was referred for a growth scan for in a couple of weeks and potentially another for 38 weeks. Is this normal following reduced movements or could the doctors etc have seen something on my monitoring chart that they wanted to investigate? I’m persuading myself that if there was something wrong, they would want me to have a scan earlier than 2 weeks time, but would love to hear if anyone else has had this? I’m overthinking everything!

I'm pretty sure if you have two or more episodes of reduced movements they send you for a growth scan. That's the way it works in my trust anyway. I'm sure it's absolutely nothing to worry about. Normally a growth scan is done by a consultant so it's just to keep a closer eye on things.

Hey I’ve been in with reduced movements twice and I’ve had a scan the following day both times, which has mainly been to check the placenta and cord, blood flow etc. I think it’s just precaution and an extra safety step now because scans provide more info than the monitoring xx

Thanks so much girls, I had a growth scan this week (unrelated to reduced movements) so the doctor said he was happy to book in a scan for 2 weeks time to monitor instead of next week, so I took that as a positive!

I think it differs from hospitals too but definitely sounds like nothing to worry about and like they are looking after you and baby x

It’s so hard not to panic isn’t it, I was convinced the doctor wasn’t telling me something but my husband was like, that’s not how hospitals work 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Where I am if you have two reduced movements within 21 days they send you for a scan :) I’ve had this twice and both times everything has been fine. Just think of it as another in-depth scan to see baby 🩷🩵

Thank you! I’m just such an overthinker now we’re in the last few weeks! So ready for baby to be here now!
