David lloyd membership or peloton tread?!

Returning to work soon so I think I deserve a treat 😊 I haven't had a gym membership for yeeeeearss as I'm a PT so have access for free. This is my reasonable excuse for forking out hundreds on my fitness lol In an ideal world I'd have both DL membership AND peloton treadmill but let's be honest that's not gonna happen any time soon. I know both are going to give me different things eg can't get the spa with peloton 🤷🏾‍♀️ If you have a DL membership or peloton please pleaseeee give me all your pros and cons.

I can’t vouch for the tread (something I’d love to have) but I have the bike. I got it in Feb last year, went on it everyday until September (found I was pregnant) and I absolutely love it. They even have entertainment on the bikes and the tread where you can watch Netflix, Disney plus etc. They’ve also partnered with Amazon Kindle so I think if you use that you can read whilst on the bike or tread too! I love the on demand rides, and the backlog category of rides I can do. You also get lots more built into your Peloton Subscription, like strength, walks and runs outside, meditation, yoga. I personally love the Peloton platform, but that’s just my two cents 🤍

I’ve not heard great things about David Lloyd recently, seems they don’t allow you to cancel or remove things from your membership until your contract ends so not super flexible! Plus expensive, yes the have the crèche but it’s an extra £7 per child per use etc

DL is a bit crazy on the cancellation 3 month period. We love it but when I was at work I was barely going. Not sure how I would fit it in with LO too when I go back to work. Currently we enjoy classes and the gym. LO is swimming so I see it as the one place I can go for lots of different reasons for all of us.

Me and my daughter go to DL, she’s been using the creche since 3m old and it’s great socialisation for us both. She loves it. The soft play is great for days we’re at a loose end and want to go do something free! I can justify it because it is the only luxury that I really have for me and I think it’s so important mentally and physically to have a release whatever it may be x

I also take her swimming once a week, again another great way of utilising the membership and not spending money elsewhere. She’s 10m old now and absolutely loves the water. It also helps with tiring her out ready for a good nap doing creche, swimming then soft play (if we make it that far lol) x

So I have DL and love it but indeed it’s not very flexible if you want to cancel or amend it. And it’s expensive… I also have a great bike at home but what I like about DL is that something I just don’t fancy my bike. I would rather swim or try their classes (they are great). I like having different options for exercising. Plus I take my son swimming and in a bit, he’ll be old enough to attend some of their classes. And it’s my personal treat like when I can on weekend, I enjoy their spa area. My little pleasure 😅

@Cassie How much is DL? Thinking about joining

@Molly Needle hi molly :). I DM’ed you x

Don’t have the tread, but have the peloton bike and absolutely love it. I continued working out all through my pregnancy, not just cycling but also doing yoga and strength (there are bump friendly classes available), and have started doing some postpartum classes. The stretching and mobility classes are also great.
