Ultrasounds - is it ok to have several?

So I’ve got my first ultrasound booked with my fertility clinic at 8 weeks. But I’m soo impatient and wanting to check everything is ok that I have just booked a Window to the Womb ultrasound at 7 weeks. Is it ok to have two ultrasounds only a week apart? I’ve just read online that it’s best to space 4-8 weeks apart where possible to keep the amount of time that your baby is exposed to ultrasound to a minimum. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Have as many as you need honestly they’re fine. To see accurate growth they advise to wait 2 weeks between scans. My last pregnancy I had private scan at 6 weeks, ivf clinic at 7.5 weeks then had a bleed so had another 1 week later then had scans about every 2 weeks until about 20 weeks when I started having them every 4 weeks. I’d had a previous miscarriage and very anxious and it was the only way I could cope ! I’m currently pregnant with twins and I have scans every 2 weeks. But in early weeks had a couple that was only 1 weeks apart too. Never had any problems and all medical professionals told me ultrasounds won’t do any harm. X

I'm a Radiographer, although I don't work in ultrasound I work closely with sonographers. It's fine to have that many ultrasounds, the only reason it's recommended to wait is to see enough growth between scans. Some people have them every week under consultant care for specific abnormalities or issues, sonographers will also scan themselves or each other for training purposes. Its absolutely fine.

@Hayley thanks so much 🙏

@Charley thanks so much 🙏

I’m nine weeks along and my clinic has me coming in weekly for an ultrasound and blood work, so I’ve been having them one week apart for the last three weeks! Totally fine. It’s very fun to track the progress at this point. Baby can look totally different from one week to the next!
