Potty Training Help…

Advice really…So my LO is showing ALL the signs and readiness to start potty training… and we’ve been delaying because everything I’m reading/looking (Inc Oh Crap method) says you need at least 4/5 days at home… how do people do it with work etc??!

I did the Oh Crap method. You need to either take time off or wait for a bank holiday. As you do really need those 4-5 days at home. Some take to it easier than others. Mine took 7 days 🤪 luckily I was able to dedicate myself to it over the summer holidays. If your partner can also be around that also helps. I did it on my own. Looking back I have no idea why I thought that was a good idea. 🤦🏻‍♀️. It’s hard work following them around 24/7 and cook dinner etc. Your brain is fried by bedtime. If you have a garden spend as much time as you can bare bummed , playing outside. It’s a nightmare cleaning up pee off the floor. Good luck with it. It’s hard initially then all of a sudden it all clicks into place and they get it. It’s wonderful when it happens, you are so proud of them. 🥰

I’ve seen people take annual leave from work specifically with the goal of toilet training! I work term time so I’m going to try it in the October holidays and if it doesn’t work out I’ll try it in the Christmas holidays (but I really don’t want to 😭😂). With my first I was off on maternity so had all the time in the world to train her 😂

You don’t. I genuinely think the worst thing you can do is stay home whilst potty training. They’ll get used to being at home and doing it all there but that’s not their reality. You won’t be indoors forever. They need to get out and about and do things they’d normally do to get used to going to the toilet in different places or using a travel potty if u choose to get one. I took my daughter out every day since starting. She’s had 1 accident at nursery and 1 in Tesco yesterday. That’s it 😊
