Gym

Recently signed up to the gym and I’m so nervous to go on my own! Is there any motivation someone can give me to stop being scared 🤣

The first step is the hardest and then it becomes a routine. What exactly worries you? I go to a council gym and there a quite a few retired people there so I don’t overly feel out of place or massively unfit in comparison. Have you had the induction?

@Karen I had my induction yesterday and it was so good and the woman was lovely ! I just go to a local gym so it’s full of all people all different sizes and ages. I think I’m just worried to look out of place I don’t know why because no one looks at anyone and I know it’s all in my mind

I had the same worries as you when I first signed up to the gym. I was embarrassed that I would be using the equipment wrong and that people would judge me for it. I did a few sessions with a personal trainer and he was able to teach me what I should be doing and after a few weeks I had so many exercises under my belt, I was able to go alone and just get on with it without any worries 😊 if you’re in a position to do so, I definitely recommend just a few sessions with a PT until you feel confident.

I dont have any tips than just go and do it. I would do stuff I was comfortable with and now and again be daring and use something new, and before I knew it, I was using all of it. Enjoy!

@Sarah ahh this is making me feel better! I have a session on Tuesday with a PT at the gym so I’ll start with that and get better at it thank you!

Pre children I use to go to the gym every week day before work, was super fit and strong and I STILL felt that way. I always thought people were watching me… until I fell off quite a high box and not one single person came to help or check if I was alright!! I was flat on the floor for a good few minutes as well 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Pop your headphones on, crank up the music and crack on 💪🏼😁
