Schools in Dallas Area

Hi! My husband, baby and I are moving to the Dallas area. My baby is only a year old, so they will not be in school for a while..but we want to pick an area to live that has good schools for them. We were looking in the Forney, Heath, and Balch Springs area. We were leaning towards Forney..but the school ratings are not that great. If you have kids going to schools in these areas or you went to the schools in this area, I’d love to get your thoughts.!! If there is a better area close to those areas, that would be awesome to know too! We are from south Texas..soo we don’t know what we don’t know!

Those aren’t the best areas. Forney is growing and will have better schools before the other cities. I’d recommend rockwall

The best schools are going to be north- Plano, Frisco, Prosper unless you look closer to fort worth in which case southlake, north lake, Keller.

I wouldn’t recommend Balch springs. Mesquite isn’t bad. Garland and Richardson have much better schools. Heath and rockwall schools aren’t bad, but I don’t have any first hand experience with them.

Most definitely NOT Balch Springs. I recommend Plano, Allen or Rockwall. Maybe Forney it’s a police city and growing but super no to Balch Springs Also look at HEB the Hurst, Euless, Bedford area. We are in Plano. Also, I recommend searching for a nanny for your baby. Daycare life is a nightmare with overpriced and understaffed. We found our angel nanny on care.com

I’m a Dallas Native… let me be the first to say… DO NOT PUT YOUR KIDS IN A DISD DISTRICT! Best schools starting outside of DISD: Mesquite is okay but North Mesquite is known for racism, Garland is good and will challenge your kids academically, Rockwall, Rowlett, Plano, Allen, Frisco, Prosper, Mansfield, Bedford, Euless, some Arlington schools, Ft Worth, Keller all those further out districts have a great school system as well. I have friends of all backgrounds who talk to me about their kids schooling and what they are doing compared to most. For me I went to DISD, MISD, GISD, DeSotoISD which is different from DISD but student wise DeSoto has gotten bad…. Academically still a good school but I wouldn’t want my child going there. I didn’t speak on Heath Texas schools because I don’t know anyone who attends that school, however Fate Texas has good schools, Paris Texas has good schools. To me country areas have good schools in general.
