I'm an OU student and pay my fees by student loan. Not sure on the UC part of your question, but I'd guess you'd still get this.

My partner did a year of OU and we still got our universal credit and we had our little boy you can get student finance to pay for the fees tho it's classed as part time education so doesn't affect UC xx

@Riley would that work if I did full time studies do you know?

@kelly yea so my partner did full time but even if you do full time because of the type of uni it's still classed as part time xx

@Riley thank you xx

@Riley hey I am applying atm did your partner get a student loan as well? I spoke to uc and they said I’d still get it up if I get a grant I might not get it BUT GOV website says I will. So confused

@kelly hey so as open university is classed as part time courses even if you study full time you're not entitled to the maintenance part of student loan you're only entitled to the loan that covers your tuition costs which In turn shouldn't affect your uc (sorry for the slow reply I've only just seen this) xx

@Riley perfect thank you hun helped so much x
