Measuring big?

So I had my 20 week scan today (at exactly 21 weeks) but I feel like baby is measuring pretty big. Estimated fetal weight is 487g… should I be worried?

did they tell you what centile baby was on? it should be on the document they sent you home with

I wasn’t sent home with anything I only know a couple of measurements because it came up on my badger notes app

I use mypregnancynotes so I'm not 100% on using badger notes but I have a chart that shows my baby's growth paths etc, you might have that? tbh though unless your sonographer said that it was a concern I wouldn't be too worried, after I had mine I found out baby was measuring small and was referred for another scan so I'm sure if nothing was said then there shouldn't be anything to worry about ❤️ no news is good news!

My boy was estimated at 368g on the 60th centile at 20+2 weeks

It may be bigger than average, but I doubt it's a reason to worry, especially if this wasn't said. My son measured on the 92nd for my personal growth chart at 20 weeks, but was born around the 80th 🙂 No probs, just a bigger than average lad! x

Mine was 400g at 20+4 Cant remember the centile for overall size. But belly circumference was 97th 😂 and leg length 98th. A few other things around 90 were mentioned. The midwife measures your bump from 28 weeks onwards and any concerns are raised from there I think.

Mines around the same weight and his head is big too, I’m trying not to have a real worry about it as sonographer said he was all normal and I’m sure growth is one of those things that comes in fits and starts!

Nothing to worry about. If you do have a bigger baby it’s fine. But if they think you are going to have a bigger tabby the you would be booked in for extra scans, I had that with my first

@Melissa this has confused me as mine was estimated 340g but 18th centile? Surely mine is wrong if yours was less grams but more centile? I overthink though 😂

Just be aware of that the measurements aren't always accurate and can be up to 25% off. Studies have found that there's a bias of measuring babies bigger than they actually are. I don't know how many times I've heard mum's having been told they have a big baby and when they came out they weren't at all.

My baby is measuring 538g at 20 weeks too and because her stomach is measuring over the 97th percentile it flagged a GD test I was already getting one due to previous big baby. I wouldn’t worry about it unless the specifically flagged something some people just generally have bigger babies x

@Sara I have no idea, I never really thought about it all with my son as he had growth scans but I haven't got to have any with this pregnancy so far, maybe it goes off a particular body part? Length maybe? I'm not too sure, we're going for a private 4D in 3 weeks so I might ask them to estimate as that one x

@Nicole same as me, my baby is off the charts so they made me do a GD test but I havnt had results yet have you? Was it due to GD?

@Mummabear I’ve not had my GD test yet but was told when I have it I’ll hear in 24 hours if I’ve got it if no news then all fine. all three of my previous babies have been large for their gestation just not this early 😂😂 x
