Liver scan

Has anyone had to go in for a liver scan and if so what was the outcome? I went in to the maternity assessment unit on Saturday as I’ve been suffering with extreme itching on my legs and stomach the midwife assured me it was just stretch marks but took bloods to rule out anything else and I’ve been booked in for a liver scan but with no explanation from anyone now my minds gone into overdrive!!!

Probably they want to rule out cholestasis. If bloods are all fine then I wouldn’t worry too much

Symptoms might be signs of cholestasis, it is probably not but it’s better to check it xx don’t worry xx

Have you asked for your blood results? I’ve got really unstable cholestasis, Friday my levels were 86, then Monday they were 17 and yesterday they were 54. I’ve never had to have a liver scan though xx

@Beth no I’m going to ring again today as I’ve not actually spoke to whoever referred me for the scan x

@Polina @Dagmara do you know what will happen if it is cholestasis? X

Yeah defo ring, anything over 10/20 will be classed as OC. Ask for your bile acids and AFT levels as they should have done both xx

@Beth so my bile levels were normal apparently but my AFT were high xx

That’s odd, but also some of my results have been below 10 and then rise straight after to 86 so I’d keep getting the bloods done xx

@Beth will they want me to be induced? Are you suffering with itching? X

They will start a regular checkups and treatments, everything depends on results. I really recommend to read this if you are from UK https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/complications/itching-and-intrahepatic-cholestasis/ Different countries might have different procedures 😉
