Second child, free childcare ?

These government schemes are confusing to me. Will I be able to apply for nursery for my little boy next year, when he's 2? We are in the process of looking for places for our 3 year old for next year too. I don't work but their father does full time. If not possible, what would the option have to be for my youngest to be eligible for 15 hours? Just the thought of having a child-free day is bliss 😌 I have no free childcare like family just so you'd know x

Yea when they turn 2 they can start regardless of working. .my sister inlaw dosnt work now, just her husband and my neice started at 2 x

If you go onto your childcare gov site you can ring them directly but all you have to do is apply before they turn 2, and you get the code x

Do you receive any other benefits? Child benefit isn't eligible unfortunately.

@Samantha my other half works full time so I don't think we're entitled to other benefits? I'm not entirely sure tbh x

Also you are entitled to universal credit. I left work as I worked 2 hours away and with a 5 yesr old and 1 year old it just want going to work. I do bank now as I choose when amd how long I work but some weeks I don't pick any up. My wife makes over 2grand a month because I have 2 kids I get £600 a month from universal credit and child benefit. It's taken into account as a family so do a joint claim and you will get something x

It depends how much your partner earns as to whether you would be eligible for any benefits. From this September children aged 9 months+ are entitled to 15 hours funding (you have to work 18 hours yourself or earn the amount they say) From next September children aged 9 months+ are entitled to 30 hours funding (you have to work 25 hours yourself or earn the amount they say) I do work in a nursery and my 15 month old just started his 15 hours but I have to work 18 hours a week to get this. My partner works full time and I still have to work as I did mention he earns enough but they still said I had to work. You can see if your entitled to it on childcare gov website. If you are entitled to it I would recommend applying next may so you get in from next September because if you do it to late you’ll have to wait until January 2026 for them to start, I hope this helps ☺️
