feeling down after my consultant appointment

for background, this is my second GD pregnancy, (first ended in emergency c-section), i am currently 32+4. had my monthly growth scan today. baby is estimated to be 6lb (i know growth scans aren’t always accurate so please don’t come at me) - 2 weeks ago he was estimated 4lb 10oz, so growing rapidly apparently. saw diabetic consultant who was a little concerned & medically advised a c-section which i was a bit disappointed to hear but of course i want the best outcome for the baby especially. they said they book electives for 39 weeks so would book me in for then. i then went home & got a text saying they’ve booked in the section… 3 days before my EDD? i don’t see why they’re so happy with basically making me go all the way to the end when literally everyone said they were concerned about his growth & measurements? i’m just so anxious about how big he’s getting.

Advocate for yourself, you can safely have you c-section when he is full term at 37weeks.

@Feriel i pretty much said i wanted a c-section earlier but they still went ahead and booked me in at 39+4

Do you turn 39 weeks at a weekend? It could be that they only have certain days for elective c-sections. They also may just be really busy and have no other availability. I know some trusts don’t run there elective clinic on weekends/ everyday. You can query with your midwife and they can direct you to the right people

@Becca yeah i’m 39 weeks on a saturday, they did tell me they don’t run electives on the weekend which i completely get, i’m just so scared with how quick he’s growing and i don’t really feel comfortable going to almost 40 weeks 😖 plus it’s likely i’ll go into labour naturally before the csection date so i’m panicking about that as they’ve completely put me off having a natural with all the risks!

Mention your anxieties and concerns at your next appointment, or if you have a contact number or email for your trust. If they had any major concerns they would have booked you in earlier so do take it as a good sign. Are you NHS/UK? If you do go into labour before your date they’ll take you for an ‘emergency c-section’

If you was to go into labour naturally they’d still have u down for a c section you’ll just be put at the Top of the list for that day xx
